Reykjavik University (RU) was founded in 1998 by the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce with a mission to increase the competitiveness of Icelandic businesses.

Its primary objectives are to provide students with a strong academic foundation, to maintain close ties with the Icelandic business community and to develop and advance cooperation with foreign universities.

The university continues its aggressive development activities and an ongoing process of self-improvement to ensure it continuously meets objectives and fulfills its purpose.

RU has established excellent undergraduate programs in business administration and computer science. It intentionally sought  membership in  the GeM Consortium for its first Executive MBA program because the GeM program's innovations matched its own aspirations for having the leading-edge EMBA program in Iceland.
