University of Cologne (UZK) celebrated its 600-year anniversary in 1988. With approximately 63,000 students, it is the largest university in Germany.

 

The Faculty of Economics, Business Administration and Social Sciences (founded in 1901) offers a broad range of subjects for study and research. Nearly 450 researchers and more than 10,000 students comprise Germany's largest business and economics faculty. Nine courses of study, some in collaboration with other faculties, and numerous specialization options are offered to meet personal educational needs.

  Study and research fields in the areas of management include: Marketing, Finance, Trade and Distribution, Banking, Media Management, Organizational Theory and Design, Supply Chain Management and Information Systems. The staff includes some of Germany's most outstanding researchers who also serve as advisors to industry and government.

 

Many institutes are doing research in the area of e-business and ICT-based management, including various research projects sponsored by the European Commission.

 

In 1989, the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Social Sciences became one of the founding members of CEMS (the Cooperation of European Management Schools).
